Voting & Ballot Drop-Off

For those who were planning to use mail-in ballots for tomorrow’s state primary but haven’t actually done anything with them in yet, there is (according to the city website) a drop-off box inside the City Hall entrance on the JFK Plaza side of the building. Completed ballots must be returned by tomorrow at 8:00pm.

(Update: I was just over there and there’s a slot in the door as shown in the photo, not a separate box inside the building.. There’s a secure, black box bolted to the floor on the other side of the door which the slot feeds directly into.)

If you’re planning to vote in person tomorrow, our building is in ward 2, precinct 3, and we vote at Lowell High Cafeteria. More voting information can be found here. Usual poll hours are 7:00am to 8:00pm

Mailroom Theft

On August 26, a resident of CP1 let this man into our building. He proceeded to the mailroom where he picked up 10 (TEN!) packages and walked out with them.

He left by bike so probably doesn’t live here. He found it very easy to steal those packages from residents of Canal Place 1, 2 and 3; it took him about 2 minutes—and then he left. What is your bet that, since he found this so easy to do, he will be back to get more ‘shopping’ done in the future?

Please, please, please do NOT allow anyone in the building that you do not personally know. Tell them to call whoever it is they SAY they are visiting, either on our directory system or on a cell phone.

If anyone has any idea who this is, please contact Cathy Deloge at Royal Management 978-521-9995.

Lost Package

Has anyone seen a FedEx package for #104, either in our mailroom or somewhere else? It supposedly was delivered here yesterday afternoon but can’t be found. If anyone has access to Canal Place 2 or 3 and wants to check for it, it would be appreciated. If found, please let me or Henry in #104 know. Thanks!

Free Games

I’m looking to give away two Risk sets, a Trivial Pursuit game (original game plus Baby Boomer edition add-on) and a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. If you’re interested, just shoot an e-mail to admin@canalplaceone.com and I’ll arrange to hand over some or all of them.

Oh, and I have a sign that says: “I cleaned my house last week…sorry you missed it,” which is going in the trash unless someone would like it. 🙂

Looking for a Roommate

A message from an owner/neighbor:

Hello Neighbors of Canal Place One. My name is Julie Manoogian and I’m the owner of Unit 508. I used to live in the building myself but now I’m renting out my 2-bedroom condo. I have one lovely tenant named Rosemary already living there but we’re searching for a roommate to live with Rosemary. This would be a shared condo situation. My priority is to find a renter who is trustworthy and respectful and quiet! Perhaps you know someone who’d like to live in our beautiful Canal Place One building?

For more info e-mail: Julie_Manoogian@yahoo.com (P.S. I currently live at Canal Place 3, so I really care about our complex.)

Furnishings for Sale (& Unit too!)

A message from a neighbor:

Dear neighbors,

After 25 years in Canal Place, I have decided to move to NJ to be near to grandkids and my son.  During early days of COVID, I was unable to travel to see them, and the distance propelled me to think about moving closer.

I have loved living in this building and with my neighbors.  I’ll be putting my condo up for sale soon.  If you know someone you would like to have as a neighbor, and they are looking for a place with a wonderful view, please let me know–pass on my email:  silvica@aol.com or put a note under my door.   It’s # 605, view of City Hall and great sunsets, 2 bedroom, small library area, small office space, LR/DR combo, galley kitchen, 1.5 baths.

I’ll also be selling some furniture.  There’s a short list below.  Please let me know if you have interest, and we’ll arrange for you to see it.

Wishing you all health in this unusual summer we are having.  I’ll definitely be back to visit.

Sylvia Cowan, # 605

B.B. Post Requests

About sending post requests/suggestions: Please put the phrase “Bulletin Board” somewhere on the subject line. I get 100s of e-mails popping up in my inbox a day, most of them requests for money from one organization or another, and those words will get my attention.

Sometimes I’m focused on something else, and I set a request aside. If your post doesn’t appear within three days, or you don’t hear from me about some reason for a delay, it’s generally for one of four reasons. 1) I set it aside and forgot. 2) My evil spam filter decided to eat the message and I never saw it. 3) I mistook the information as being just for me because it wasn’t clearly stated as being for the Bulletin Board. Or 4) I’m researching the subject further before posting.

If your request seems to have disappeared, please feel free to contact me again. I welcome information from neighbors to share here and never deliberately ignore requests (even if there are occasionally days when I wonder why the heck I got myself into running this site! 😉 )

Owner Seeking Parking Space in Basement Garage

A request from a resident:

I am looking to rent or (or discuss the purchase of) a garage space in the basement. My roommate is a woman who works nights and would like to be able to park inside the building when she arrives home late so that she doesn’t have to walk in from the public garage.

Please reach out to me at (908) 246-6204 to discuss. Thank you!
