Upcoming Meetings & Events

Next week’s board meeting will be for Trustees and management only. The next scheduled board meeting after that is September 15th via Zoom. Owners will receive a link near the date to allow them to join in.

The Trustees have a new email address that will be checked weekly: canalplacetrustees@gmail.com. This address is intended for comments, questions, etc. that are not urgent. For urgent issues please contact our property manager via phone (781-860-0605) or email. (Tenants should generally contact their landlord rather than management unless it’s an issue that requires immediate attention such as a significant leak or safety issue.)

For your convenience, the “Contact” page of this site offers a comprehensive list of the who, when, where, how, and for what when it comes to reaching almost anyone involved in managing the building.

The Lowell Folk Festival is coming up July 25th through the 27th. It’s a huge event and lots of fun but be sure to allow extra time driving in and out of our lot or getting around town that weekend. I’ll be posting more info in the coming days about traffic patterns and road closures.

  1. Just to clarify, when a board meeting is limited to just management and the trustees (aka “executive session”) it’s usually because there are legal or privacy issues involved, but it can also be because there are a large number of issues that need to be covered in a limited amount of time and the meeting moves much faster with a half dozen people rather than several dozen.

Canal Place owners should also keep in mind that while open board meetings have been the norm around here historically, they are NOT the norm across the industry. Our documents only specifically entitle owners to attend the Annual Meeting; other meetings are open at the board’s discretion. Trustees volunteer hundreds of hours of their personal time each year working with management to keep the building running as smoothly as possible, and there are dozens upon dozens of issues that most residents never know about because they’re handled quickly and effectively.

For someone to suggest that there’s something nefarious about the board occasionally holding a closed meeting to meet their obligations and to maybe, possibly, even save themselves some time is wildly offensive, and any comments appearing here to that effect will be removed, especially any posted under a fake name.
