There are two festivals coming up that will mean closing Market Street for some or all of the weekend: Creaticity Art Festival on the 16th and 17th and the Kinetic Sculpture Race on the 23rd. They should both be great fun but be aware that traffic patterns in and out of the lot and the garage will be rearranged for those days and people need to allow extra time getting places.
During the Creaticity Festival I’ll be running a walking tour of nineteenth century dance sites both days at 2:00 followed by a brief dance demo. And, in the process of doing more research for the tour, I ended up with so much info about one section of the Bon Marché building that I put up a couple of web pages about it—for anyone interested, it can be found here.
A little more information about the air conditioning outage at the beginning of this week: the problem was with the main circulating pumps—the cooled water wasn’t making it to our units. Ron was able to fix this reasonably quickly once he knew about it. Steps are now being taken to tie the system’s temperature sensors to management/maintenance’s cell phones so that they’ll know right away when there’s a problem (thank you, Craig, for suggesting it).
When there are issues with building systems, simply contacting the web administrator (me) actually adds another layer to solving the problem. I’m happy to share information (when appropriate) and look for input from other residents but to get something fixed, please use the info on this site’s Contact page to let Cathy (royal.cathy@comcast.net) know what’s going on—she can’t fix what she doesn’t know about. I often forward e-mails to her but since I don’t carry a smart phone there may be a significant time lag.
For a bit more info about our AC system check the comments on the last post. Or, for that and to discuss other info, come to the next board meeting, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the lobby office—put it on your calendar!
I’ve gotten multiple e-mails about air conditioning problems and I also noticed that ours ceased to blow anything but lukewarm air sometime during the evening/night. I have e-mailed Cathy and trust she will take care of it. Please direct any further concerns to her at royal.cathy@comcast.net If I have any more news–and a chance to post it–I’ll pass it along.
In case anyone hasn’t noticed the tents and signs sprouting around the downtown area, this coming weekend is the Lowell Folk Festival. If you’re planning on driving anywhere, a list of road closures can be found here.
Hope everyone has a great weekend—whether you choose to spend it at the Festival or elsewhere!
Has anyone found a framed picture either in the lobby or by the elevator on the second floor? It’s about 18″x18″ with a gold frame and large, black Chinese characters on it. Please let me know if you have it (admin@canalplaceone.com) and I’ll connect you with the owner. Thanks!
A resident accidentally left their iPad in the lobby last Saturday and it was picked up by these gentlemen right around 5pm. Does anyone recognize them? If you do, please let Cathy (royal.cathy@comcast.net) or Georgi know. Thanks!
Canal Place has no water because of a water main break at Market Street and Dutton Street. Please contact the water department for repair updates and timeframes.
