This question is coming from a resident. The asbestos question should really go to the management, but I’m posting it here anyway because anyone who can answer the first question has probably already looked into the second.
I was wondering if any residents had any luck with popcorn ceiling removal in their condos.
Are there any companies they recommend to do popcorn ceiling removal?
Asbestos was present in popcorn ceilings before the 80s, but can still be found in late 80s buildings. Do we have info whether there is asbestos in Canal Place One popcorn ceilings when the building was converted to apartments?
The bubble wrap mentioned in the last post already has 3 takers lined up so I think that batch is spoken for. But given how quickly that went, I would encourage people to recycle packing materials whenever they have a quantity of clean material in good shape by sending me info to post on this bulletin board. It’s such a shame to send it to a landfill when it could be reused.
Does anyone have any use for a quantity of bubble wrap? I have 8 large sheets of small-celled bubble wrap, about 30″ x 30″, that came with something my son ordered and I hate to just toss them if someone could use them. Just reply to admin@canalplaceone.com
Flyers went under everyone’s door tonight with instructions for Halloween. Trick-or-Treating in the building will be Sunday the 31st from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. If you’d like to welcome Trick-or-Treaters, please tape the pumpkin picture to your door so the little ones know which doors to knock on. There are a number of spare pumpkin flyers tacked to the bulletin board at the top of the lobby stairs if you’d like one and yours has gone missing.
Please do keep social distancing in mind during Trick-or-Treating and consider masking up—even if your costume (or lack of one) doesn’t require a mask!
Also: Voting for local elections is this coming Tuesday from 7:00am to 8:00pm. More information can be found by following the appropriate links here. The polling location for Canal Place is the Lowell High School cafeteria.
Just in case there weren’t enough traffic challenges around us due to construction, there will be a number of road closures this Sunday for the Baystate Marathon. Please allow extra time if you plan to go anywhere that day, particularly in the morning. The most detailed list of closures I could find was on the Lowell PD Twitter feed.
I am moving to a different city in a few weeks and have a buffet table I am looking to sell. I am looking to sell it for $75 (or best offer). I’ve attached a photo but it is dark brown wood and has 3 drawers and space for wine bottles/additional storage.
If you’re interested please contact admin@canalplaceone.com and I’ll pass your e-mail along to the owner.
Please be aware that there is currently no way to buzz guests or deliveries into the building. Access to the door that is normally unlocked via your phone, as well as access to the intercom itself, is blocked by the ongoing work on the stoop.
In the long term this work will make our building more accessible by changing the step to a ramp across the width of the space. But for the next few days residents may need to make arrangements to let guests and delivery people in in person.
An owner is looking for someone to install a tile floor in her unit. Does anyone have any recommendations for dependable general contractors or tile guys who have done work in our building? Please reply in the comments. Thanks!
I have a Canon MX 850 Printer that I would love to give away. Loved this printer and it worked really well until an error message appeared one day that there was a problem with incorrect printer heads having been installed. They had never been changed. I believe that someone with a little computer knowledge might be able to fix it and have a great printer on their hands.
There are pictures below and I have all the cords and books that go with it. I also have 5 unopened ink cartridges that I would like to sell for $5 each. If anyone is interested please contact me at cbs33@comcast.net.
Someone has three lamps up for grabs at no charge: a floor lamp and two Ikea desk/table lamps. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll pass the info along. Photos below.
