The cooling tower appears to be back online so it should be fine to run your heat pumps for AC as usual.
The Association’s Roy garage account is NOT affected by the same verification requirements as individual subscriber accounts, but if you’re an individual subscriber, do drop by the Roy garage office with the required documents ASAP.
For those who haven’t heard, there’s an electrical problem with the cooling tower which management is working to get fixed ASAP. In the meantime, our heat pumps are not designed to run with the cooling tower down—they may still offer a little relief but it’s bad for your heat pump and your electrical bill—so try to get by with fans as much as possible or consider spending some time elsewhere.
A resident received a postcard from Smart Energy in Quincy offering them a $200 refund for signing up for their service and wants to know if anyone has any experience with them. Or with any other alternative electrical service. If you have any feedback regarding alternate energy suppliers and whether their service and monthly charges are decent, please put it in the comments. Thanks!
If you’re an owner, you should have gotten an affidavit from the assessor’s office with your tax bill. (See below) This form must be filled out and returned by August 1st or you’re subject to a fine. Apparently they’re supposed to go out every 5 years but I don’t ever remember seeing one before. If your unit is in a realty trust, note item “F” near the bottom of the form; my understanding is that the trustee for the trust must sign at bottom, but I could be wrong. Please contact the Assessor’s Office with any questions.
It’s come to my attention that the city parking department has notified downtown garage parkers with personal accounts that they must verify that their car is registered at a downtown address, as well as supply proof of age or disability if relevant, to show they’re entitled to any discounts they’re receiving. (See below) If you pay for your own city garage space, please stop by the Leo Roy office or the main parking office at 75 John Street ASAP to ensure you continue to receive your discount(s). The lobby office has reached out to the city to find out if parkers on the Association’s Leo Roy garage account will need to supply similar documentation but has not heard back yet.
Sally has 2 tickets to see Darlene Love tomorrow night at the Lowell Auditorium at 7:30 which she’s selling for $20/each (a fraction of full price). If you’re interested, reach out to her directly or through me and I’ll connect you.
Betsy Chisholm and Sally Coulter will be planting hostas tomorrow from 11:30-3:00 and could use a few more helpers. They could also use another shovel or two. Please let them know if you can help in the comments. Thanks!
Just a heads up that if you haven’t noticed the sign on the lobby office door, the office will be closed next Wednesday evening, the 12th.
Also, the Saturday hours on June 21st will be 2–4 instead of the usual morning hours. If you have any questions, the office manager can be reached at canalplaceoneoffice@gmail.com.
