Security Reminder

This information that Canal Place III sent out  just got passed on to me (thank you Pete) so I’m passing it along to you.

Dear Owners,
Recently, there has been a series of targeted “fishing” attempts and break-ins into residential properties around the Lowell area. These burglaries have occurred by a suspected 20-30 year man with dark hair traveling to area communities and evaluating targets based on ringing buzzers and waiting for unwary residents to allow him access.
Please remember that as a general safety protection both for yourself and your fellow residents to only provide access to the property if you directly know the visitor, or a contractor that you specifically hired.
If you see any suspicious activities around the area, please call the Lowell Police at (978) 937-3200 or by calling 911.

Saving the Association Garage Fees

I know I’ve mentioned before that those over 62 who rent a space in the city garage should be getting a discount, but I only recently asked Cathy about whether that applies to people whose fees are paid by Canal Place.  The answer is yes.

There are a number of eligible people that Cathy and the garage management know about and whose spaces are already discounted.  But if you’re eligible and your space is included in your fees and you think you might have been overlooked, please let Cathy know your birthday (royal.cathy@comcast.net).  It would also be helpful if you could stop in at the Leo Roy Garage office and ask them to change the rate for your garage pass card.

If you’d like to know more about the discount, the info is here: https://www.canalplaceone.com/garageparkingregs.pdf   Thanks, all!

Possibility of Weekend Repointing?

Just a heads up.  We noticed some noises starting right at 8:00 and are wondering if the masons may be trying to make up for the two days lost to rain this week.  So please be aware that you might want to be careful about leaving windows or shades open this weekend.

Of course, the noise and trucks may be something else entirely, but it seemed worth mentioning.

Paving Tonight and Annual Meeting Tomorrow

There is paving overnight tonight on Market Street between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM.  The street may be closed; access to the garage will be via Palmer Street.

Tomorrow night (Wednesday the 27th) is the Canal Place Annual Meeting at the Visitor’s Center starting at 7:00 PM. There will be elections for two Trustees and various other business. If you can’t attend, please fill out the proxy received in the mail a few weeks back and drop it in the office tonight or give it to someone you know who is attending so that they can leave it with Cathy at the meeting. A pdf of the proxy is here:  https://www.canalplaceone.com/cp1proxy.pdf

Milling Market Street Wednesday Evening!!

The city will be milling Market Street on May 20th from 7 PM to 5 AM.  Police details will be on duty to direct traffic.  Access to the garage will be via Palmer Street.  Please take this into account if you have any plans to go out Wednesday evening.

The road work schedule linked to the last post has been updated with additional info.

Hopefully, we’re far enough back from the street that it won’t be too noisy and we can sleep!

AC, Road Repairs, Masonry Reports, & Doors Open

For those who haven’t noticed, the AC is working again.

The city is going to be doing road repairs to our winter-weary streets. More info can be found here.

The latest masonry report can be found here.

Doors Open is this coming weekend.  Lots of interesting buildings will be open for a look-see!

And don’t forget the upcoming Annual Meeting for Canal Place at the Visitor’s Center on Wednesday, the 27th at 7:00! Two seats on the board are up for grabs so come and vote, or better yet, consider serving on the board yourself.

Open Windows + Repointing = Ugh

Just a reminder:  After carefully telling people not to leave their windows open if they were in an area targeted for repointing, I forgot.  For the benefit of people on the front side of the building who would prefer not to spend their evening cleaning mortar dust out of everything, do NOT leave your windows open and tootle off to work for the day.

Air conditioning

In case you’ve been wondering, the word from Cathy is that repairs are underway on the air conditioning and notices will go up on the bulletin boards letting us know as soon as the tower is functioning.  (Thanks Kate for forwarding this info!)
