If in favor of

If it can be
done legally (and with probable exceptions such as for religious or medical
purposes), I would support an amendment to prohibit smoking in any area of the
building
2.
While I
havenÕt (regularly) smoked cigarettes in a good long while (& when I did I
went outside), IÕm not a huge fan of being told what I can and canÕt do inside
my own home, and I would hope any neighbors with concerns about my behavior
affecting them would bring it up with me instead of jumping to proposing
amendments. I also object to the
grandfathering clause in that it means making rules that donÕt apply to me and
that is, frankly, gross as all hell.
3.
I donÕt like
seeing cigarette butts in front of the building everywhere I go in and out. I
would favor smoking ban but not inside peoples units. ThatÕs their space.
Several years ago the people in front of me and next to me smoked and blew
inside, out, and under, and I could smell it constantly. I understand other
unit ownerÕs frustrations. Thanks for looking into this matter.
4.
I recognize
that many object to smoking, but many people do smoke and should be able to
smoke in their home just as they are able to drink or exercise other personal
liberties. Also, I think if we do
adopt this policy we need to provide real smoking patios with seats and ash trays and covers.
This proposal feels like a puritanical hunt. And what about medical mj? People have a right to their medical
care/prescriptions. I think we are inviting trouble.
5.
I support a
ŌgrandfatheringĶ clause for owners.
For tenants only until the end of the current yearÕs lease.
6.
I believe
that smokers should go outside to smoke; the smell fills up hallways and
condos. I chose not to smoke and therefore shouldnÕt have to smell it in my
home. On a side note, there are also a number of people who smoke pot in their units which stinks up everything.
7.
Could board
members go door to door to get the vote of owners who fail to respond by mail
deadline? Would like to see a real
vote. Do not support grandfathering;
this action may help someone stop smoking who canÕt do
it on their own. Thanks for the
vote!
8.
I support
some kind of discipline if not obeying the rules. And for these who are
grandfathered some kind of filters that would prevent smoke from entering other
units.
9.
As a person
with breathing problems, I think itÕs a great idea. Thank you.
10.
While I am
actually not a smoker, having the option available for guests who are is nice.
11.
The
grandfathering for current owners or residents is a
nice idea but it makes it too difficult too enforce it for others.
12.
I donÕt
smoke, but I reject a plan to ban owners from smoking in their own homes. I do
absolutely support a ban on smoking by renters and in all common/public areas,
including outside the building. Home owners should have the right to smoke in
their own homes however
13.
In theory,
great idea. Grandfathering has to be part of the Amendment but, of course,
proponents of this amendment have to be clear that the process to make this
complex completely smoke free will be years in the making. Be that as it may,
to reach any goal, a process must begin somewhere!
14.
If other unit
owners could assure me that while they are smoking in their units no smoke
would be passed on to other units, I wouldnÕt have this opinion. In the past,
on numerous occasions, I have unfortunately have smelled a strong odor of
cigarette smoke in my unit. Thank
you for taking the time to address this issue
15.
How will it
be enforced? Seems
most of the rules and regulations are either ignored or not monitored. I agree with no smoking but feel it will
just be another thing that wonÕt be dealt with.
16.
I am in favor
of the no smoking policy in both the common areas and in all condominium units for
safety and health reasons. As a non-smoker I am concerned about the effects of
second-hand smoke from the usual tobacco products but increasingly from
marijuana skunk odors circulating thru the bathroom, kitchen vents and heating
& AC vents.
There is more info being released about the second hand smoke effects of
this drug. Perhaps adopting a
no-smoking policy will encourage and help smokers to quit. (1) I would like the
Board to aggressively contact all residents who do not reply to this mailing
for their input also. (2) I would like
to see the final response numbers of this survey. (a) Total number of owners responding
(b) Total number of owners in favor of adopting the no-smoking policy (c) Total
number of owners not in favor of adopting the no-smoking policy (d) Total
number of owners not responding
17.
Any insurance
benefit?
18.
Banning
behavior inside someoneÕs private property is an invasion of privacy &
overreach. I would be in favor of
solutions individual unit owners can put in place to filter their vents.
19.
What happens
legally within my unit is my business.
20.
No smoking policy
is an excellent proposal. Smoking causes COPD and eventually emphysema. I was a
former smoker for years; quit in 1988. But the damage was already done to the
lungs. Although, it is not easy to quit.
