Another Request for Remodeling Advice

I can’t help with this one since all we’ve done is replace a vanity, but I’m passing it along.  Please feel free to respond in the comments or to e-mail me and I’ll post your reply.

Here’s the question:

I’ve been thinking about expanding my upstairs bathroom and wonder if anyone has done so, and has photos or tales of woe to share.

Thanks

  1. It’s something I’ve also been considering. The walk-in closet seems less useful to me than more bathroom space and a larger tub. (I’m 6’2″). So far I’m concentrating on paying off the downstairs renovations (new built-in cabinets and bookshelves in the living room, and new fireclay farmers sink, soapstone counter top, and natural-material backsplash tile and floor tile in the kitchen) but I’ll be onto the upstairs as soon as I can!

  2. I’d like to see pictures of the kitchen. I’ve reworked my first floor bath but not upstairs yet. I’ve been told by a plumber who knows the building that the plumbing is screwy on the tubs and basically the only thing you can do is replace what’s there. He said he knew one guy who had put in a cast iron tub.

Back to the first floor bath. The plumber I used had to strip all flooding to the original planking and then screw down something like Masonite, then we put down marble tile I got from Home Depot. Pedestal sink and of course the expensive horizontal outlet toilet. The sink opens it up. I think I made some good choices.

Bathroom upstairs is last on my list. Be happy to share pictures of my downstairs bath if any one’s interested.

    1. I’d love to see the pictures if possible. We are moving into 403, and I am trying to get ideas, and information around our upstairs bathroom.
